Hydrogen will cost the same as coal/LNG within a decade. And there is no way batteries, biofuels or synthetic fuels will replace conventional fuels. With $680 billion in investment announced in 2024, and remarkably over a quarter of these projects reaching final investment decision, hydrogen is most certainly here to stay. The industry should be encouraged as much as possible rather than campaigned against, because these cost/difficulty arguments are completely exaggerated and are quickly becoming resolved.
Electrifying everything is completely impossible; batteries will never power everything. Finally the EU gas grid is converting to 66% hydrogen and decarbonised gas by law, and is fully planned out by the TSOs, which are backed by 3,500 gas and electric utility companies. These 'expert' anti hydrogen campaigners are only trying to achieve one thing: a continuation of the status quo, where we realise that industry, trucks, gas turbines, aviation, shipping etc will never be able to use batteries. These campaign groups and lobbyists are the problem, as I write about and research extensively.
